Surfing and environmental awareness go hand in hand. Broulee Surf school and Ulladulla Surf schools, on the South Coast of NSW Australia, are actively involved with many community and council programs such as clean up beaches campaigns, land care activities with surfing groups and free ocean awareness lectures at accommodation places in holiday time. Ocean Awareness and the marine environment are an integral part of the surfing lessons and surf programs held regularly at Broulee Beach near Batemans Bay and Ulladalla region beaches between Batemans Bay and Nowra on the Australian East Coast.  North Broulee Beach was the overall winner for the south coast NSW region for the Keep Australia Beautiful Clean beach challenge 2006! The award was presented at the NSW Coastal Conference hosted by the Eurobodalla Nature Coast Shire in Narooma.
