BELINDA WEHNER

Thanks to a small 'push' by her father, at age 12, Belinda rode her first wave at Tomakin River Mouth.
At 19, after moving to Qld's Gold Coast to study Environmental Science and attaining a degree in Eco-Tourism, Belinda re-discovered her childhood surfing 'stoke' and spent the next 4 years surfing Burleigh Heads and Snapper Rocks.
This intense research of surfing long point breaks lead to her exploration of Central and South America, Europe and Indonesia. After a season at Delfin Amor Dolphin and Whale Marine Research Centre in Costa Rica Belinda then spent 3 years as the Surf Program Director and Field Instructor at Costa Rica Rainforest Outward Bound School. Here she played a fundamental role in the development of surfing as a recognised outdoor Education activity.
Belinda has spent the last 3 years sharing this experience and the enjoyment she has gained through surfing by operating the Surf school on her home beaches at beautiful Broulee and Ulladulla on the South Coast of New South Wales Australia.
In 2005 Belinda again set off around the globe to research the breaks in countries such as Sri Lanka and the Maldives. During this time Belinda also intensified her meditation studies in a Sri Lankan buddhist retreat centre and completed her level 1 Yoga teacher training at Byron Bay Yoga Arts in NSW Australia.
At 28 years old, Belinda is very excited about the development of the womens surf and yoga retreats and aims to continue to motivate women and girls to get involved in all of her passions, surfing, travelling and Yoga!.
Belinda also aims to inspire participants in the Australian East Coast Surf Retreats with her knowledge of the healing qualities of the australian bush after completing her level 1 qualification in Australian Bush Flower Essences in 2005.

SHANE WEHNER - Surf School Instructor
Shane Wehner has been a professional surfer on the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals) World Tour for 8 years. Shane started surfing at age 9 and quickly progressed through the ranks under the guidance of his coach and father, Kel.
Shane's greatest achievement to date is runner up to six-time World Surfing Champ Kelly Slater at the prestigious Pipeline Masters contest in 1999.
In recent times, Shane has also worked as a surf instructor for the Broulee Surf School teaching beginners, intermediate and elite-level surfers on the Australian East Coast.

ABBY SHIELS - Surf School Instructor
South Coast born surfer Abby was introduced to the ranks of Broulee Surf School at the ripe age of 18. After working for a season planting trees with Green Corps, Abby has used her passion for the local environment to influence the environmental ethic of our surf school students, especially with the many School groups from the ACT.
Living the dream of the endless summer, Abby has travelled to California to escape the Australian winters while working with the Australian Surf Academy. In 2005 she spent the season at Costa Rica Outward Bound school in Central America.
At 21, when Abby isnt busy laughing in the white water at the surf school, she loves to surf, travel, play music, take photos and play touch footy with the girls!

COREY DIMMER - Southcoast Surf School Instructor
Corey has been a professional swimming coach for over 15 years, owning his own swim school on the gold coast Qld in 1998 while also holding his swim coaching certificate for surf lifesaving to bring athletes to competition level.
Before moving back to the south coast of NSW Australia in 2005, Corey was lifeguarding at Cornwall and Wales in the UK for 5 years.
Now at 32, he is enjoying teaching surfing with Broulee Surf School and making the most of the laid back south coast lifestyle.
Corey's enthusiasm and humour is appreciated by all who have the pleasure of experiencing his unique teaching style and motivation.

BEN ADCOCK - Surf School Instructor
"I grew up in Mollymook and from a young age, my dad took me out into the waves, the magic feeling of riding a wave still has me captivated today. Surfing has kept me in touch with nature and constantly reminding me that the simple things in life are often the most satisfying.
"I have been surf coaching with Ulladulla Surf School over the past 2 years and seeing the buzz people get from catching their first wave has been a highly rewarding experience."
At 32, Ben studies and teaches Buddhist Calm Abiding meditation. He also enjoys yoga, travelling, camping and walking the dog!

KENDALL HACKETT - Surf School Instructor
Kendall grew up at Moruya Heads on the south coast New South Wales and has been surfing and participating in lifesaving events since she was a small girl.
At 18 Kendall travelled to Bali for her first solo surf travel fix and is now hooked on the idea, hoping to be a part of the global women’s surf adventures in 2006.
At 19 she has been teaching surfing for 12 months and looks forward to returning to the uncrowded waves and Broulee surf school every summer after battling through the line - up at the "Super Bank" on QLD's Gold Coast every day for her surf fix.
Kendall also enjoys yoga and works as a graphic designer/sign writer.

KEL WEHNER - Broulee Surf School Founder & Administrator
Kel Wehner started surfing in the mid 60s developing his surfing skills in the cold waters of southern Australia. He travelled the whole Australian continent looking for waves, and settled 30 years ago on the South Coast of N.S.W. to raise a family of surfers.
With over 35 years of surfing experience, Kel has been instrumental since the 70s in the development of next-generation surf clubs and competitive surfing experiences. While coaching surfers to an international standard and manufacturing their surf equipment, he created a career of design, manufacture and retail in the surf industry. For 10 years Kel introduced people to the thrills of surfing at Broulee, just south of Batemans Bay, combining his knowledge of education, training and counselling to provide a unique learning environment.
Now Kel is essential with administration & assisting with the true "nuts and bolts" of the company while Belinda is jet setting around the globe!
